Blog Do's and Dont's

Ok since all this nonsense started, I've been reading a lot of other people's blogs (via the trusty 'next blog' button). In these time wasting sessions I've encounted a whole spectrum of different blogs, from mindless self indulgent dribble to thoughtful and entertaining rants. (where do we fit in?). But despite being new to the game I think that I've worked out some reasonable guidelines for what should and shouldn't go on blogs, so here goes.

Do:
  • Allow anonymous comments (if someone's got something to say, let them say it, even if they won't put their name to it)
  • Include lots of juicy pictures (even if they're not of nutsacks)
  • Post regularly to keep it fresh
Don't:
  • Write blogs in languages other than english (english is the new latin, monkey talkers)
  • Think too much about what you're writing (honesty is the best policy)
  • Make a commercial blog (if you've got a product/service to sell, stop being a tightarse and make a real website)
  • Adorn your blog with lots of javascript and flashy little animation. Not only is it tacky, it means I load up your shitty little blog, click on 25 Javascript errors that popup, and half the content is missing. If you need to rely on cutesy crap like that, keep your absent thoughts to yourself, forget about blogging.
